- Keep the rail free of contaminants Such as grease, oil, dried glue, wax, and silicone-based release agents, as these can affect performance
- Regularly clean and oil the spindle to maintain smooth operation and prevent wear
- If the rail is shiny, roughen both narrow sides with emery cloth (100 grain)
- Clean and oil the pressure plate regularly
